The next IPMS Ft. Crook Chapter meeting will be Wednesday February 13th at 7 PM at a new location. This will be at Confluence Bookstore in Bellevue. Confluence Bookstore is located Cornhusker Road and Fort Crook Road. The exact address is 505 Cornhusker Road. See the map attached to the email to help you out.
Why the change? Thunder Alley is hosting a National PBA tournament this week.
They need the meeting rooms. So we opted for the bookstore that Tom Long found
for us. Neil Bable reserved the room for us. Thanks guys. We are going to
be in the 2nd story meeting (conference room). It looks like a pretty classy
place.
The theme for this month's contest is "Then and Now" hosted by Mike
Whye and Roger Sams. Bring in your latest model you have completed and your
oldest completed model.
In keeping with the theme, Tom Long will be showing us how models have changed.
He will be bringing in some old kits and compare them with newer kits. Not
only has the level and fidelity of detail changed in kits, but so has the
molding process. In the 60s into the 70s, it was common to have flash on sprues
of models. It was not until the early 70s, when we were all amazed at the
flash-free models from Tamiya and Hasegawa.
We will also be having a demo by Neil Bable. Neil will be demonstrating how
to make nice white paint finishes. Neil, who dabbles in airliners, will show
us his tricks.
If you have not checked out our website, please do so. Don Joy has done some
great work on the website recently. Also, information and forms for the Regional
Contest are posted there as well.
So, we look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday night. Even if you don't
have a completed model, bring in something you are working on.
That's all for now.
